It is the policy of the Financial Aid
Office to process Stafford loans as well as parent PLUS and
alternative loans for the full academic year (Fall and
Spring). The only exception
to this policy would be if a student is graduating. At
that time, their loan will be prorated based upon the number
of hours enrolled.
Federal Family Education Loan (FFEL) Programs
Federal Subsidized
Stafford Loan
Awarded on the basis of financial need. The federal
government pays your interest while you are in school
or during your grace period.
Federal Unsubsidized
Stafford Loan
Not awarded on the basis of financial need. The
federal government does not pay the
interest. You
are responsible
for all the interest that must be paid or
allowed to accrue capitalized. If your interest is
capitalized, your repayment amount will increase.
PLUS Loans (Parent Loans)
Not awarded on the basis of financial need. Parents of
dependent undergraduate students with a good credit history
may apply for the PLUS loan. Loan amount cannot exceed
cost of attendance minus other financial aid. Repayment
starts within 60 days after the loan is fully disbursed.
Private
Alternative Education Loans
Private alternative education loans are designed to help
finance students' education by filling in the gap between
financial aid and estimated total cost of attendance.
Grad PLUS
Graduate and professional
students have a low-cost option for financing their
education. The Grad PLUS loan is not based on financial
needs; credit guidelines apply in determining your
eligibility. Grad PLUS loans allow you to borrow up to 100%
of the cost of your education minus other financial aid you
receive.
Eligible
Borrower Form -
If you had loans discharged
due to disability and are reapplying for loans, this
form must be completed by your physician.
