The field of
industrial/organizational (I/O) psychology
focuses on understanding work from the
perspective of psychology.
I/O
Psychology is the field that applies
knowledge about psychology to work
organizations. Industrial/Organizational
(I/O) psychologists contribute to the
success of organizations by improving the
performance and well-being of their people.
This
concentration trains students in the
theories and research methods of
industrial/organizational psychology and their
applications in work settings, such as industry
or government. Depending on
the interest of the students particular
expertise can be developed in a variety of
areas, including personnel selection, training
and development, performance appraisal,
motivation, team performance, and leadership.
