APSU's Distance Education offerings are designed to bring you  and your education together, using a variety of delivery methods...Online courses offer global accessibility, Interactive television classes let us reach folks in real-time, wherever they are, and recorded media based courses let us deliver the course content to you wherever you live.

Distance Education courses offered by APSU provides the same content, quality and value as any course offered by the university.  Our credit courses delivered at a distance are designed to make the pursuit of a college degree available to learners of all ages and interests at any time and from any place.  

Distance Education courses are offered through the use of these various delivery methods: 

  • Online Courses are offered on the world wide web.  They are generally asynchronous.
     

  • Interactive Television uses compressed audio and video to connect to specific sites in our region and around the world.
     

  • Video-based TeleCourses use a more traditional media (audio and videotape, and DVD) to provide instruction. 
     
  • Off-Campus Courses provide a way for you to take credit courses right in your own community.
     
  • Regents Online Degree Program offered through the Tennessee Board of Regents.  APSU can be your home university and you can take courses offered in this program to obtain a degree online.
Austin Peay State University operates under the Tennessee Board of Regents definition of Distance Education: Distance education occurs when there is a physical separation of the teacher and learner and when communication and instruction take place through, or are supported by, any technological means such as telephone, radio, television, computers, satellite delivery, interactive video, or any combination of present and future telecommunication technologies.
