ESL Academic Year & Courses

Academic Year

The academic year includes two semesters, designated as the Fall semester and the Spring semester.  Two summer semesters may also be offered.

Course Descriptions

The Intensive English courses will be offered through the Extended Education program. Courses are not taken for credit. Students receive Continuing Education Units (CEUs).

Courses include Grammar, Oral Skills, Composition, Reading, Vocabulary, and TOEFL Preparation. In addition, other courses, such as American Culture and Study Skills, may also be offered.

Depending on enrollment, classes may be divided into different levels, such as beginning, intermediate or advanced.  Classes will be small in order that students will receive more personalized attention and opportunities to improve their learning skills.

Students will have the opportunities to use university computer labs for assignments. In addition, full-time students will receive a student ID card which permits them to use the other University facilities and services, such as the library and student health center.
