Performance funding is an incentive-based funding system for higher education administered by the Tennessee Higher Education Commission.  Indicators include measures of student learning, student retention and persistence, satisfaction and progress in achieving state and institutional strategic goals.  Participation in the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) and the Consortium for Student Retention Data Exchange (CSRDE) and a greater reliance on comparison to peer institutions is emphasized in the 2005-2010 Performance Funding cycle.  Reporting on achievement of Performance Funding Goals for APSU is coordinated by the Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness and the Office of Academic Affairs.
