Kentucky Certification Requirements
ALL students seeking Kentucky Certification MUST complete a Kentucky application, plus forward two official copies of their transcript to the Certification Office. In addition to the transcripts, the Certification Office must have on file their Praxis II specialty test score(s) required for Kentucky. see Kentucky Education Professional Standards Board Testing Assessments.
  
Teacher candidates interested in obtaining Kentucky certification K-5 or 5-8 must complete the following requirements:

  •  Tennessee Certification K-6

    • Students will be licensed KY Elementary P-5 if they have the follow requirements:

  • Tennessee Certification 5-8

    • Students will be licensed Middle School 5-9 if they have the following requirements:

      • 24 hours (total of 48 hours) in two cognate areas (Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, or Social Science). Core courses can be included in these cognates.

        (EX: Science Cognate area can include Biol 1040, Geol 1110, etc. as part of the cognate)

      • One Middle School Specialty Test (Praxis II) for each cognate completed.

      •    

  • Tennessee Certification 7 -12

    • Students will be licensed KY 8 -12 for their major with the following requirement:
