The Teacher Education Unit (Unit) at Austin Peay State University is accredited with condition by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). Accreditation with conditions carries all rights and responsibilities of an accredited institution as delineated by NCATE policies. NCATE will conduct a focused visit on NCATE Standard Two in spring 2009 to determine the future accreditation state of the Unit. The Unit is preparing for this visit and is confident that the Standard Two will be met at that time and the Unit’s accreditation will continue. However, regardless of the decision by NCATE, all licensure programs at Austin Peay State University were reapproved in April 2008 by the Tennessee State Board of Education. Therefore, students completing licensure requirements at Austin Peay State University will be eligible for the apprentice license by the Tennessee State Board of Education. This approval will continue until 2012 when the licensure programs will once again be reviewed by the State Board of Education.
