Implementation

The data governance process is a cooperative effort among the Office of the Provost, Decision Support and Institutional Research, Office of Information Technology, and functional areas throughout the university. Dr. Tucker Brown, Interim Senior Vice Provost and Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs, serves as chair of the Steering Committee. Dr. Andrew Luna, Executive Director of Decision Support and Institutional Research, chairs the Data Standards Committee and leads training and reporting efforts.

The steering committee met on December 20, 2017 and January 8, 2018 to set the initial priorities for the governance process.  The data standards committee, taking direction from the steering committee, began meeting regularly in Fall 2018, documenting business processes, revising the university-wide data dictionary and standardizing data access and security.

The data delivery teams take a lead role in the creation and maintenance of documentation, training materials and the data dictionary.  Their work began in conjunction with the data standards committee meetings.
