The data governance process will be a cooperative effort among Decision Support and Institutional Research, Office of Information Technology, and functional areas throughout the university.  Dr. Lynne Crosby, Vice Provost and Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs, will take a lead role in the process by serving as chair of the Steering Committee. The Director of Decision Support and Institutional Research will chair the Data Standards Committee and leading training and reporting efforts. Data Trustees and Data Stewards have been assigned based on their expertise within functional areas and will bring invaluable insight into the governance process.

The steering committee met on December 20, 2017 and January 8, 2018 to set the initial priorities for the governance process.  The data standards committee, taking direction from the steering committee, will begin bi-weekly meetings in March 2018 to begin documenting business processes, creating a university-wide data dictionary and standardizing data access and security.

The data delivery teams will take a lead role in the creation and maintenance of documentation, training materials and the data dictionary.  Their work will begin in conjunction with the data standards committee meetings.
