Username Change Information!
Desire2Learn (D2L)
Upgrade from 8.1.3 to 8.3
Dear APSU
Students, Faculty and Staff,
Desire2Learn, the course management software used for online
courses (https://elearn.apsu.edu),
will be upgraded from 8.1.3 to 8.3. The upgrade will take place
May 8-10; the server will not be
accessible during that time.
Spring II faculty were encouraged
to build these day's into their syllabus without assignments due
or need for D2L access. Students
should be prepared to turn
assignments in by May 7 or after May 10.
Tutorials
for students will be made available via
www.apsu.edu/online to familiarize them with the new
features. Students should note that the changes are
mostly visual and do not
significantly affect performance.
Faculty will
be provided a training shell in D2L with tutorials and necessary
documentation. Both faculty and students will have the
opportunity during the summer to attend Live Classroom or online
training with Ellen Smyth, the D2L Administrator.
Faculty
should visit
www.apsu.edu/d2l for preparation guidelines. Faculty should
also copy and prep for
Maymester/Summer courses early since there are only two days
between the upgrade and the beginning
of Maymester.
In
conjunction with the upgrade to 8.3, all ID's or Usernames will
change in D2L. The new Username is constructed from the first
character of the user's first name and up to seven characters of
the user's last name. Non-alphabetic characters other than
periods, hyphens, and underscores are removed. If the Username
is not unique, the last characters are replaced with sequential
digits until the ID is unique.
The system
will deliver
to your APmail account or your Outlook/Exchange account
your new username and initial password before May 12. If you do
not have access on May 11 you may contact Distance Education at
221-6625 for help or email
smythe@apsu.edu
