Dear Faculty and Students:
On May 6th all user names in the
Desire2Learn server will be changed as part of the 8.3 upgrade
sequence. You will receive an email in your APmail or
Exchange/Outlook with your new login information anytime between now
and May 6th. You will not need to use the new login information
until May 7th. Please read the information below
carefully for login instructions.
New Login Information:
Your new D2L username is
the first character of your first name followed by up to seven
characters of your last name. (Non-alphabetic characters other
than periods, hyphens, and underscores are removed.) If your
username is not unique (e.g., there may be more than one Julia Smith
or John McDonald), then the last character gets replaced with a
digit to make it unique (no spaces). If you have an extremely
common first initial/last name combination, then two digits could be
replaced.
Example 1:
Julia Smith’s login could be jsmith.
If more than one J. Smith exists, then his login may be
jsmith1 or even
jsmith12.
Example 2:
William McDonald’s login could be
wmcdonal. If more than one William McDonald exists,
then his login might be wmcdona1,
wmcdona2, or possibly even
wmcdon10.
Usernames will never exceed eight characters, though they could be
less.
Your D2L password
will stay the same as it was before in D2L. If you have
never used D2L, then your password will be the same as your PIN for
AP Self Service. If you
have never used AP Self Service, then your password will be the mm/dd/yy
of birth.
Login Troubleshooting:
1.
If you are unsure of your username or password, click on the Forgot
Password link which will email your username and password to
your APMail or
Exchange/Outlook account.
If you have never used
APMail before, login using the prefix to your email address
(e.g., jdoe14) and your A-number as the default password.
2.
If you do not know your A number, please login to AP
Self Service with your SSN and
mm/dd/yy of birth. You may find your A-number, email address,
and D2L username in AP Self Service.
3.
