D2L to be upgraded from 8.1.3 to 8.3

In response to the patent infringement suit by Blackboard against Desire to Learn, D2L is upgrading all servers to their 8.3 release to comply with court orders.

APSU will be upgrading May 8-10 of 2008.

The upgrade affects the "look" of D2L and fixes many bugs or known issues. Please see the TBR D2L wiki for a more detailed listing at:

All instructors for Spring II will need to:

1. Export a copy of their Gradebook before May 8. Here is a D2L course and grade exporting.pdf link to help with this process.

2. Back up any material from students such as drop box submissions or discussion posts.

3. Export a copy of their course.

Training:
- Training will begin in the latter part of April
- Training will be done through online tutorials and through Wimba Live Classroom sessions. Training sessions for Department Liasons and College Liasons will begin in May 2008.
- Department Liasons can be consulted or provide additional training.
