Leadership across the System

Academic Affairs, Center for Teaching and Learning, and Center for Extended and Distance Education co-sponsor Leadership across the System, which recognizes the importance of the faculty’s leadership efforts at Austin Peay.

In exchange for one course release, Leadership across the System offers an opportunity for two APSU faculty members to join a faculty cohort from other TBR institutions during the 2016-17 academic year and learn more about institutional similarities and differences for a broader understanding of academic leadership.

The program fosters an exploratory team environment that requires participants to relegate all other campus responsibilities to non-program hours. Leadership across the System is a part of the Campus Connection Initiative, which aims to develop a more interconnected, knowledgeable, and adaptable campus community capable of responding quickly and collaboratively to challenges and opportunities.

The faculty cohort will travel monthly on Fridays to a different participating institution and compare and contrast retention and graduation initiatives, as well as other strategic efforts, within the following four contexts:

  1. Finances
  2. Organizational Structure
  3. Organizational Culture
  4. Institutional Practices

At the end of the program, participants will present their findings to President White and Provost Gandy.

The 2016-17 faculty cohort will be selected by committee. Interested faculty should complete and submit the second page of the attached form to the Center for Teaching and Learning, P.O. Box 4544.  Deadline for applications is October 9, 2015.
