Graduation Requirements

• Complete the University Core Requirements for the Bachelor of Science Degree.
• Complete 120 semester hours.
• Complete 39 semester hours of upper division ( 3000-4000 level courses).
• Complete the requirements for the chosen concentration.
• Complete the requirements for the chosen minor.

Plan for Course Offerings

The Department offers all required courses every academic year. Some are offered only in the Fall while others are offered only in the Spring. The scheduling below is currently in effect.  See the current University Bulletin for course titles and descriptions. Note that CSCI 1000 is a course for non-majors and is not required for Computer Science and Information Systems majors.

CSCI 3900, 4900, 4910, 4920, and 4930 are classes that are arranged with individual instructors and are placed in every semester's schedule but are not necessarily offered. The remaining elective and optional courses are offered as student demand and the instructional workload dictate.

Typical Schedules

While it is ideal to have four years to complete the program of study for a Bachelor's Degree, many Austin Peay students come with some credit earned from other sources. The Computer Science Concentration requires at least six semesters for completion unless a student transfers from a school with course offerings very similar to Austin Peay's. The Information Systems Concentration allows for more flexibility so a student can complete the requirements for this Concentration in as little as two years provided that some Core and minor requirements can be met by transfer courses. Several typical schedules for arranging required courses in both concentrations follow. These schedules do not include Core and minor requirements.
