Computer Science Faculty:  Yingbing Yu, Jiang Li, Bruce Myers, Jim Vandergriff, Nancy Smithfield

We have gotten behind on updating this web site.  Here are a few recent happenings.

  • Dr. Jim Bateman retired at the end of the spring semester and is now teaching part-time on post-retirement.
  • Dr. Yingbing Yu joined the department as an assistant professor, replacing Dr. Bateman.  Dr. Yu's doctorate is from the University of Louisville.  His area of expertise is computer security.
  • Mr. Floyd Tackett joined the department as a part-time instructor.
  • Dr. Jim Vandergriff took over the supervision of the programming team from Dr. Bateman.  They recently participated in the regional ACM programming contest in Cookeville.
  • The new minor in networking is now available with one new course being taught by Dr. Jiang Li during the Fall semester.  The minor was primarily developed by Jiang Li and Nancy Smithfield.
  • The department has been approved for an additional position for the 2008-2009 academic year.  The position has been advertised, and review of applications will begin soon.
  • Bruce Myers began his second four-year term as Department Chair.
  • Dr. Dixie Dennis is now serving as the Interim Dean of the College of Science and Mathematics.  Our department is part of this college.

Hopefully more new information will appear here soon.  For APSU computer science graduates who may see this page, please email us and let us know your current email address.  We would like to get some version of an electronic newsletter up and going soon, and we will need your emails in order to distribute it.  We have lost some of our opportunities to contact you by phone during the Phonathon, so please let us hear from you.
