Internships, REU's, and Scholarships
Internship and REU's
Getting experience in a work environment or working on research is always a great way to use the skills you've learned in the classroom and grow as a computer scientist. Internships give you hands-on experience in the workforce, collaborating with companies for short periods of time, usually less than one year. Research Experiences for Undergraduates, or REU's, give you experience working with a team on a specific theory or product. Both look great on resumes and will help your career as a computer scientist.
The Computer Science department keeps a page with information on the internships and REU's that have been sent to us, and is a fantastic resource to find companies and opportunities. Check out the Internship/REU page here.
Scholarships are a great way to aid your college career. The best place to start is with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA, which opens October 1st. APSU offers many scholarships to their students from many different sources. Check out the APSU Scholarship Homepage for more information and to find the APSU Scholarship application, which opens October 1st.
The Computer Science department has organized a list of miscellaneous sites that will help in applying for and finding new scholarships specific for students seeking Computer Science degrees. Check out the CSCI miscellaneous scholarships page here.
