Theater for Children - (ages 6-10)

Theater is the perfect place for your "center of attention". This class will give your child their first adventures in the amazing world of theater. From storytelling to make believe, this class is tailored for each child and their individual needs and skill levels. Local actor and APSU graduate Edd Garcia has extensive experience with this age group and will guide your child through all that theater has to offer. Some classes even get to tour our theater facilities and meet with the actors and craftspeople. 

Workshop - Stage Movement: Creating Characters Outside-In! (ages 14-17)

Have you ever found yourself with a nervous sway or dead arms on stage? If so, this workshop is for you! This movement workshop is designed to improve young actor's stage presence by creating an awareness of their physicality on stage. We will focus on spatial awareness, nervous habits, and creating a character through physical change. Bring clothes you can move in.

Workshop - Theatrical Foam Carving (ages 14-17)

Techniques and tricks will be shown for how to make a variety of realistic objects from foam. Students will have the opportunity to experiment with a range of tools and approaches to create their own 3D object. 

Workshop - Nail Your Audition: Monologue Dos and Don'ts (ages 14-17)

Is your audition package keeping you from landing roles? In this audition breakdown workshop for young actors, discover appropriate , fresh monologues that will give directors a break from the overdone monologues, which make them cringe in every audition. Overall, this workshop will help guide young actors to find monologues, cleanup their monologues, or determine whether or not their monologue is right for them.

Bad English accents are a thing of the past. This dialect workshop will introduce a whole new way of learning how to correctly speak in an authentic dialect. Through a crash course of the International Phonetic Alphabet, or IPA, young actors will be able to begin their exciting adventure with dialects from all around the world.

Learn a variety of theatrical painting basics. Multiple approaches to woodgraining, scumbles, and spatters, shading, and shadow work, aging and distressing, and work from renderings.

Workshop - Script Analysis: The Actor's No. 1 Tool (ages 14-17)

Instead of leaving the children with grandma, bring them along and let them enjoy themselves in a fun environment centered around the theatre experience while you attend the show. CSA Theatre instructors and various APSU Theatre students will be working with your children on story telling, acting, exploring, and many other aspects of theatre for children. If you are interested in registering for any of the available courses/ensembles/workshops above, you can make a $50 non-refundable* deposit today. The remaining balance will be due one week prior to the start of the course unless prior arrangements for additional payments have been made with the CSA office. Please indicate which course/ensemble/workshop you're choosing when making your deposit. You will be notified before the start date to pay your balance. 

*The deposit is non-refundable. In the event the chosen course/ensemble/workshop is canceled or does not meet enrollment requirements your deposit will be refunded.
