A support group for those seeking to better manage the responsibilities of college and life.  Do you become overwhelmed with all you have to do?  Does life and its stress make you anxious?  If you answered yes...then this group is for you.

Overcoming Social Anxiety

This therapy group is designed to help people reduce anxiety in social situations. The focus of this group is to teach new ways of thinking about social interactions in order to help individuals experience more satisfaction with their social lives.  Join this group if you would like to learn how to manage your social anxiety and feel confident in social situations!

When: Mondays, Beginning October 26, 2015, 3:30 – 5:00

12 Steps to Self-Care

 A support group for managing the unhealthy habits or hang-ups that interfere with your daily life.  Understand and explore your attachment to harmful behaviors such as misuse or abuse of alcohol/drugs, extreme attachment in relationships, excessive shopping, spending, or internet use, etc.  This group will use a 12 step model with a focus on making healthy choices and improving self-care.

Join Michelle Barnhart and Student Counseling Services for Self Care for Success to begin your journey toward unlearning unhealthy habits and improved self-care.

Moving Beyond Your Past

Do you encounter reoccurring hurtful patterns in new relationships? Do you struggle to trust others?  Do you frequently battle with shame, guilt, and low self-esteem?  Moving Beyond Your Past is a group that provides support for those who have journeyed through difficult family relationships, circumstances, and experiences in their past and who are struggling to thrive in the present and have hope for the future.   

Goals for the group include: 1) Identifying areas of your individual development most affected by your past, 2) Developing strategies to resolve present challenges, 3) Developing an individualized plan for future growth

When:  September 28, 2015, then every Monday 4:00 pm-5:30 pm.

Happiness 101

This group is designed to teach participants how to be happier people. Drawing from the philosophy of Aristotle and the psychological research of Martin Seligman and colleagues (University of Pennsylvania), we will explore each participant’s unique character strengths and ways of tweaking his/her lifestyle to achieve optimum happiness. And we will learn from and support each other…how cool is that!

Turning the Table On Stress

Life can deal us many challenges each day.  Often, it’s how we perceive these challenges, rather than the challenges themselves, that cause us stress & unpleasant emotions.

In this group, we’ll have fun learning how to reduce unpleasant emotions in our lives, identify & change the thought patterns that fuel them, and practice methods & skills to experience more life enjoyment!!

When: Beginning September 10, 2015, Thursdays, 4:30 pm-6:00 pm
