Fall 2013 Group Schedule

Surviving the Semester:  Depression/Anxiety Group

Want to make it to the semester finish line?  Are you having problems being motivated or adjusting to college life and stressors?  Is your anxiety or depression attacking you full force now that school is in full swing?  Join Student Counseling Services group on Tuesday afternoons as we support each other during times of anxiety and depression, and learn how to better cope with stress that life brings.  Snacks will be provided.

HEAL (Healing  Emotions  After Loss) Together Support Group

In any given year, nearly 25% of college students will experience the death of a loved one, such as a parent, family member, friend, or partner.  The HEAL Together Support Group provides a safe space for these students to be able to openly talk about their grieving experience and to support each other in their emotional healing.

Typically, groups will begin with a brief activity to promote a deeper self-understanding and appreciation of each participant’s unique grieving process, followed by ample time for open expression, sharing, reflection and support.  Members will be encouraged, but never forced, to participate in any aspect of the group process in which they may feel uncomfortable.

The HEAL Together Support Group will be an open group and students may join throughout the semester.  The first meeting will be on October 3rd, and the group will continue to meet on a weekly basis for the duration of the fall 2013 semester.  Light snacks and refreshments will be provided.
