IRB Frequently Asked Questions
Q: I completed ethics training for a different school but it wasn’t through CITI. Would this meet the training requirement for Austin Peay?
A: No. There are different ethics training courses available online, but APSU requires that all Principal Investigators conducting research completes the CITI training.
Q: I noticed several different courses available through CITI training and I completed one other than the Social and Behavioral focus. Is this OK?
A: The required CITI training course to complete before submitting an IRB application is Basic Human Subjects: Social and Behavioral focus. Even if you have completed a different course, you will still need to complete this required course.
Q: Can students complete the IRB applications?
A: Yes, students may complete IRB applications under the supervision of a Faculty Advisor, but it is required that the application is turned into the IRB by the Faculty Advisor, not the student.
