SCH Production - Greg Schutz
Greg
Schutz, Director of Institutional Research, distributes and reviewed handouts
of SIS screens. A motion was made that all faculty have access to the TLC screens. The motion was seconded and all approved.
2.
Allocation of Graduate Assistants – Stephanie Newport
Stephanie
Newport distributed and addressed a proposal from the Graduate Council
regarding allocation of graduate assistants. The chairs were asked to share
this proposal with their faculty and provide feedback by email to Stephanie
Newport. Many legal issues will be
considered when making final recommendations.
3.
Process for Changing Course Prerequisites - David
Denton
A motion was made that course additions
or deletions for course prerequisites that do not affect other departments will
be made at the department level. The
motion was seconded and approved by all. Dr. Speck will take this recommendation
forward.

No Overloads for Post-Retirement – Bruce Speck
The
post-retirement agreement is contracted for a specific number of hours. Classes taught by post-retirement faculty should be capped
in order not to exceed the hours in the contractual agreement.
6. Faculty
Research Forums - Bruce Speck
The
Faculty Research forums are not being well attended. Please encourage attendance.
7.
Call for Hawkins Award Nominations - Bruce Speck
Nominations
for the Hawkins Award are due to Inga Filippo, Chair of Honors
and Awards Committee, by March 31.
8. Report
to Deans on Departmental Faculty Mentoring by March 2
Please
submit how each department mentors new faculty within their departments.
9. DSP Students Declaring a Major – Bruce
Speck
If
a student has a DSP requirement they will not be able to declare a major. If they have any DSP requirements they will
be advised by DSP in the summer and will have a list of courses that they may
take. These students may talk with folks
within the discipline in which they are interested in declaring a major. The discussion will be continued at the Feb.
23 Deans Council meeting.
10.
Hybrid Courses – Bruce Speck
The
hybrid courses should be primarily Tuesday/Thursday classes and need to have
two courses to team up. Hybrid courses will
provide more classroom space. Discussion
of the enrollment in hybrid courses will be continued at the Feb. 23 Deans
Council meeting.
11. Summer School (Enrollment) – Bruce Speck
Summer
enrollment floors of 7, 10, 15 must be met. Enrollment caps are the same as fall and
spring semesters. Dr. Speck will check
on the day that a course will make (probably the third day). The Deans Council will discuss the date of
enrollment to be used for payment. The
dean has the authority to make an exception to the floor. The teaching load
policy will be used in the summer. The
Deans Council will discuss if individual studies, etc. may be conducted in the
summer.
