1.      Campus Diversity Activities - Richard Jackson

Soliciting assist in flushing out all things the university is doing in diversity activities.  The next academic year the U.S. court will entertain motion to dismiss the Geier case.  To prepare for discussion of post-Geier in how we will diversity our faculties, staff, student bodies.  Richard Jackson and Carol Clark are leading this charge at APSU.  Richard reviewed a list of items that are currently being conducted at APSU; he asked if there were other diversity efforts in underserved populations known that he did not list.  Please email to Richard Jackson by April 8.

2.   Computer Labs - Aaron Dobbs (Attachment A)

Aaron Dobbs represented TAF committee and distributed.  TAF funds - Not able to deal with new requests due to recurring mandatory fees.  1.4 million dollars available; 2.2 million in requests; $329,000 short for projects agreed to by TAF committee.

TAF offers three – 1) shut down labs all together – not supported by deans/directors/chairs, 2) change replacement cycle from 3 years to 4 years,- It was suggested that a selected number of computers go on a 4 year recycle and others remain on the 3 year replacement cycle (those needing to run current software, etc.

3) decline some of the new requests (noted that not all new requests have to be funded.)

3.      Advising Coordinators - Harriett McQueen

Dr. McQueen distributed report.  Four of the seven advising coordinators have been identified.  Need the additional three coordinators.  SIS screen ACS will be added to the deans and chairs template to view each faculty member’s advisees.  Please begin

4.      List of Advisees without Advisors - Telaina Wrigley

232 students with declared majors listed as not having an assigned advisor.  The advisors should be input by morning March 23.  Pre-advising begins April 4.

5.      Validation (Early Reporting of Attendance) – Deans Report

Bottom line, be on alert, faculty should report students who do not attend class by the 5th day of class.  We are being fined for students not being reported as not attending class.  APSU receives the federal funds and if we do not know that they are not attending class, if we do not return funds, APSU can be fined.

6.      APSU 1000 Instructors for Fall ’05 (60) – Houston Davis

Warning today, we have to cover 76 sessions of APSU 1000; 16 are covered; 60 faculty are needed to teach this course.  Each college should think about strategies of how to get at least 20 faculty members from each college; this course will meet only one day per week.  Instructors will get 1.5 teaching load credit for teaching APSU 1000.
