The committee has the responsibility for reviewing University
policies relative to affirmative action. The affirmative action
plan of the university will be reviewed by this committee.
The
senior advisor has the responsibility for monitoring all affirmative
action activities; however, individual members of the committee may
be called on at times by department chairs or deans to assist in the
recruitment of minority or women faculty members.
The
members of this committee should bring to the attention of the
senior advisor any questions related to the affirmative action
policy or any problems related to affirmative action so that the
senior advisor appropriately administers this policy.
The
committee will also be responsible for developing a university-wide
diversity plan designed to enhance the campus climate, increase
retention of minority faculty and staff, and support a
discrimination-free environment.
The
committee will meet at least three times annually.
