Biographical Sketch
Dr. Steven J. Anderson
Dr. Steven J. Anderson specializes in Small Business Consulting, Business Valuations and Business Literacy Training as a principal with AVP Associates. The Business BreaksŪ Business Literacy training program, which was developed by AVP Associates, has been successful at the Fortune 500 level and won Outstanding Training Initiative recognition by Training Magazine in 2001. Dr. Anderson has directed and/or co-authored over three hundred (300) small business plans under the Small Business Institute (SBI) program and personally directed an additional forty (40) small business plans under contract with the Tennessee Small Business Development Center (SBDC) as organized under the Small Business Administration (SBA).
Dr. Anderson is presently a Full Professor of Marketing at Austin Peay State University with twenty-eight (28) years full time teaching experience to include the subject courses of Marketing Principles, Retailing, Advertising, Industrial Marketing, Marketing Research, and International Marketing. He has served as the School of Business SBI Director since 1989 and was the SBI Director for the State of Tennessee for two (2) years.

Dr. Anderson served on active and reserve duty with the U.S. Naval Security Group as a Cryptologic Technician from 1971
to 1976 with a top Secret Security Clearance and was honorably discharged in 1976.
Dr. Anderson served as Business Administration Department Chair from 1983-1989 and acting Director of University Planning in 1995. Dr. Anderson was vice president of the Faculty Senate in 1994 and President in 1995. Dr. Anderson has published approximately fifty papers and has served as Faculty Advisor for Alpha Kappa Psi, the American Advertising Federation College Chapter, and the American Marketing Association College Chapter. He was honored as Best Student Organization Faculty Advisor for the university and received the Alpha Kappa Psi Outstanding Professor Award in 1997.
