Austin Peay State University will sponsor the Science and Mathematics Summer Academny (SAMA) 2013 during the weeks of June 9-21. Fifty students from area high schools will have the opportunity to live and learn on the APSU campus for two weeks of educational activities and get a glimpse of college life, FREE OF CHARGE!
as a SAMA participant, you will....
Live in an APSU residence hall
Take science and math courses taught by APSU professors (not for credit)
Attend various campus events
Get acquainted with college entrance exams
Explore college options
Meet faculty in departments outside of science and math
And, of course, make tons of new friends!
Student Criteria:
1. Must have completed Algebra 1 and Life Science or Physical Science with a grade of B or higher.
2. Must have completed the 9th grade or 10th grade; entering 10th or 11th grade in the fall.
3. Must have a minimum overall high school GPA of 2.50 (on a 4.0 scale).
4. MUST NOT have any disciplinary action taken against them by the school system in the past year.
5. Must have a signed permission form from parents prior to acceptance into the program.
6. Must sign a contract committing to program participation and agreeing to follow program rules.
7. Must not have attended previous SAMA Academy.
