Secondary Academic Endorsement by Tests Only
If a candidate for biology add-on endorsement holds a current teaching license in Tennessee in any seconday subject area, he or she may add a licensure endorsement to teach biology by earning a passing score on require Praxis Exams offered by Educational Testing Service.
As of October 28, 2010, the required Praxis exams were Biology Content Knowledge, Biology Content Essays and General Science Content Essays. See http://www.ets.org/praxis/tn/requirements/ for Tennessee Test Requirements.
Individuals who have previously earned an undergraduate degree and are preparing for PRaxis exams may wish to prepare by taking appropriate biology classes as non-degree seeking students.
