Dr. Dewey Browder kicks off Provost Lecture Series Sept. 9

The Provost Lecture Series will kick off with a talk by Dr. Dewey Browder, professor and chair of history and philosophy, from 3-4:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 9 in the Morgan University Center, Room 103-C.

Other sessions in the Provost Lecture Series also are planned for the academic year. All sessions are from 3-4:30 p.m. in the MUC, Room 303 (unless noted otherwise) and include the following:

The Provost Lecture Series will kick off with a talk by Dr. Dewey Browder, professor and chair of history and philosophy, from 3-4:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 9 in the Morgan University Center, Room 103-C.

Sept. 23: Michael Becraft, assistant professor of professional studies.

Oct. 7: Harry Maddux.

Oct. 21: Benita Bruster, assistant professor of education, and Barbara Peterson, director of clinical teaching.

Nov. 18 in MUC 103-C: Marcus Hayes, assistant professor of theater and dance.

Dec. 2: Jiang Li, associate professor of computer science and information technology.

Jan. 27: Samuel Jator, professor of mathematics.

Feb. 10: Thomas King, professor of music.

Feb. 24: Rebecca Johansen.

March 10: Megan Mann.

March 24: Sergei Markov, associate professor of biology.

April 7: Jill Franks, professor of languages and literature.

April 21: Suta Lee, associate professor of art.

The Provost Lecture Series seeks to foster a spirit of intellectual and scholarly inquiry among faculty, staff and students. The program will be used as a platform for APSU faculty members who are recent recipients of provost summer grants, who have been awarded faculty development leaves and who have engaged in recent scholarly inquiry during sabbatical leaves.

APSU faculty members with recent research of acclaim also will be given a platform within this series. In addition, other faculty members of local or widespread renown will be invited to lecture within this series.
