APSU in school supply contest against MTSU until Sept. 10

More than just football will be taking place Sept. 11.

The Governors will play Middle Tennessee State University that evening at MTSU’s Floyd Stadium, but between now and Sept. 10, the two schools are competing to see which one can collect the most donations of school supplies for their respective county schools.

The Daily News Journal in Murfreesboro and The Leaf-Chronicle in Clarksville are sponsoring the inaugural Presidents Cup trophy to honor the school with the greater campus collection of school supplies leading up to the game.

Supplies collected by APSU will go to the Teacher's Warehouse, a long-term classroom supplies resource for teachers in the Clarksville Montgomery County School System.

Items such as paperclips, staples, stickers, paint brushes, colored pencils, clipboards, paper towels, Kleenex, staplers, games, seasonal decorations, yarn and other classroom supplies can be donated.

At APSU, collection bins are located in the residence halls, the Foy Fitness and Recreation Center, Morgan University Center and other locations across campus. For the Govs football season opener on Thursday, Sept. 2, a collection bin will be placed on the home side of Governors Stadium inside the student gate area for anyone to donate school supplies.
