Welcome Week activities underway

Austin Peay students are being welcomed back to campus this week with a variety of Welcome Week entertainment options, according to Lynne Yarbrough, coordinator of programs and special events for the Office of Student Life and Leadership.

Here is the schedule of this weeks special events:

Monday, Jan. 12
•The Peay-A-Thon Welcome Back Event was held from 7-10 p.m. in the Memorial Health Building (Red Barn). The event featured free food, door prizes, gift certificates, a football toss, three-on-three basketball tournament and board games.

Here is the schedule of this week's special events:

Monday, Jan. 12
•The “Peay-A-Thon” Welcome Back Event was held from 7-10 p.m. in the Memorial Health Building (Red Barn). The event featured free food, door prizes, gift certificates, a football toss, three-on-three basketball tournament and board games.

Tuesday, Jan. 13
•A Breakfast Buffet and Karaoke/Make Your Own CD event was held 8:30-11:30 p.m. in the UC Food Court. Students were able to record their Karaoke performances on a CD.

Wednesday, Jan. 14
•Nationally known hypnotist Rich Ames will perform 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in the UC Lobby.

Thursday, Jan. 15
•The Ladies of Zeta Phi Beta will teach everyone how to "step " in the UC Lobby. Time TBA.
•Students are invited to “Groovin' with the Gov” from 7-10 p.m. in Java City. Music will be provided by The Oxymorons, featuring none other than Dr. Tim Winters, associate professor of classics, Dr. Mickey Wadia, professor of English, Dr. Stanley Yates, professor of music, and Ray Carroll.

Friday, Jan. 16
•AP Playhouse will host a screening of "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" at 9 p.m. in Clement Auditorium

Saturday, Jan. 17
•Students can bring their children and enjoy a Family Fun Event from 1-5 p.m. in the UC Lobby, complete with inflatables, snacks and an appearance by Bobo the Clown.
2 p.m. Java City will host a screening of "Rugrats Go Wild" at 2 p.m.
