Venable earns honors from ESPN The Magazine and the OVC

Brianna Venable, junior infielder, has been named to ESPN The Magazines second-team Academic All-District IV softball team, as voted by College Sports Information Directors of America.
Brianna Venable, junior infielder, has been named to ESPN The Magazine's second-team Academic All-District IV softball team, as voted by College Sports Information Directors of America.

The junior mass communications major (broadcast) owns a 3.788 grade-point average. The Edmonds, Wash., native four times has been a member of the Dean's List (3.5 GPA) and once was named to the President's List (4.0 GPA). Twice she has been selected to the Ohio Valley Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll (3.25 GPA+ for the year) and has been a member of the Athletics Director's Honor Roll (3.0 GPA+) each semester.

In addition, she served as co-secretary for Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) and was selected as one of two APSU representatives for HCA-OVC Student-Athlete Spotlight, recognizing students for their efforts in the classroom and community.

On the field, Venable was named second-team All-OVC for a second straight season and in the process became Austin Peay's career home run leader (26).

To be nominated for Academic All-America, an athlete must have reached sophomore standing athletically and academically. District IV consists of all Division I schools in Tennessee, Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky and Alabama.
