It's not just your imagination this week as Austin Peay hosts the National Youth Sports Program (NYSP) for Montgomery County and Fort Campbell youths, ages 10-16, according to David Davenport, co-project administrator and director of University Recreation.

The NYSP is a partnership bringing together the federal government, represented by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and the nation's colleges and universities, acting through the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).

From June 1-30, the kids will participate in softball, volleyball, basketball, golf, soccer, swimming and tennis, as well as educational programs in alcohol and drug prevention, health, math, science and career opportunities.

The program, which is in its 36th year nationally, will run from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily. Girls and boys are eligible to participate at no cost.

For more information about NYSP, telephone 7564.
