Two promoted to administrative positions

Dr. Bruce Speck, vice president for academic affairs at Austin Peay, has announced the appointment of a new interim dean and a new interim director.

Effective July 1, Dr. David Denton will become the interim dean of the College of Professional Programs and Social Sciences. Denton has been associate professor of psychology for seven years and chair of the psychology department for one year. He holds a doctoral degree in industrial and organizational psychology from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.

Dr. Bruce Speck, vice president for academic affairs at Austin Peay, has announced the appointment of a new interim dean and a new interim director.

Effective July 1, Dr. David Denton will become the interim dean of the College of Professional Programs and Social Sciences. Denton has been associate professor of psychology for seven years and chair of the psychology department for one year. He holds a doctoral degree in industrial and organizational psychology from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.

Prior to his appointment as chair, he served as associate professor of business administration at Transylvania University in Lexington.

The dean's position is being vacated by Dr. Don Luck, who wanted to return to the classroom.

Dr. John Mitchell will assume the role of interim director of the School of Education on June 1, taking over for Dr. Carl Stedman. Mitchell has been an assistant professor in the department of education at Austin Peay since August 2002. He earned a doctoral degree in educational leadership from Vanderbilt University.

The search for a permanent director of the School of Education will begin this fall.
