APSU junior pitcher Rowdy Hardy was named the Ohio Valley Conference's “Pitcher of the Week,” and Lady Govs sophomore Natasha Anderson, who hurled a pair of shutouts last week, has been named the OVC “Pitcher of the Week.”
Hardy opened the 2005 season with back-to-back wins before losing to No. 19 Mississippi State March 4. In his season's first start, Feb. 18, he limited Birmingham-Southern to four runs in seven innings while striking out eight. Then, against Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Feb. 25, he fanned 10 in eight innings of scoreless work. It was his second career double-digit strikeout game. He threw his season's first complete game against Mississippi State, Friday, going 8.2 innings and striking out six.
Anderson, who battled through the flu early in the season, tossed shutouts against Cumberland and Buffalo last week. Against Cumberland, Anderson fanned 13 while permitting just three hits. At Bowling Green, she permitted just two hits and fanned seven in firing a two-hit shutout against Buffalo. The next day, she again held Buffalo to two hits and one run while fanning 10 in chalking up her season's fourth victory. Earlier in the week, Anderson struck out 14 in a loss to Belmont. She posted a 0.75 earned-run average in four complete games.
