Trombone students to present spring recital

The Austin Peay State University Department of Music will present a trombone recital that will include both solo and ensemble performances.

The recital will start at 7:30 p.m., Monday, April 20 in the Music/Mass Communication Building Concert Hall. The concert is free and open to the public.

Students William Hoekstra, tenor trombone, freshman, Troy Morris, tenor trombone, senior, and Cameron Reddick, bass trombone, junior, will perform. The first half will be Hoekstras solo freshman recital.

“The trombone is much like the human voice,” said Susan K. Smith, trombone instructor at APSU and ensemble director.

There will be no microphones in the Concert Hall, according to Smith. “Just a natural beauty.”

Smith has been a trombonist with the Nashville Symphony Orchestra since 1994.
