Austin Peay State University's department of communication and theatre presents William Shakespeare's “A Midsummer Night's Dream,” Nov. 19-23.

Director and Roy Acuff Chair of Excellence occupant Louis Fantasia says he has taken a country-western attitude towards the play, which will include a great deal of music.

“The characters will be recognizable,” says Fantasia, former director of the Shakespeare Globe Centre's Teaching Shakespeare Through Performance Institute. “The young leads look as though they might have just slipped off Fort Campbell, the young ladies are southern belles and Peter Quince and Nick Bottom are like your local garage mechanics.”

Performances will begin at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday-Saturday, Nov. 19-22 and at 2 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 23 in APSU's Trahern Theatre.

The cost of admission is $4 for students and children, $3 per person for groups of 10 or more and $6 for the general public.

The Trahern box office opens at 3 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 11. Tickets should be purchased and/or picked up a minimum of 24 hours prior to each performance.

For tickets and information, telephone 7379.
