Tenor Richard Cox and pianist Michael Baitzer perform Thursday at APSU

The Austin Peay State University Department of Music will present a concert featuring tenor Richard Cox and pianist Michael Baitzer. The performance will start at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 25 in the Music/Mass Communication Building Concert Hall. Tickets for the performance are $25 for adults, $12 for students.

Cox possesses a voice that combines lyric and heroic qualities, equally suited to opera, concerts and recitals. The versatile tenor joined the roster of the Marilyn Horne Foundation for the “On Wings of Song” recital series in December 2006. He has performed at the Metropolitan Opera, Staatsoper Dresden and the Washington National Opera. He holds degrees from Tennessee Technological University, Florida State University and The Juilliard School.

Baitzer is currently a faculty member at The Juilliard School, and staff member at Washington National Opera. He also served as assistant conductor for Central City Opera for five years. He holds degrees from Drake University, University of Minnesota and the New England Conservatory.
