Softball's Adcock named CoSIDA second-team Academic All-District

Jennifer Adcock, who has achieved a perfect 4.0 grade-point average during her nearly four years at Austin Peay, has been named to the 2004 CoSIDA Academic Second-Team All-District IV softball team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Adcock, a senior outfielder from Jackson, was one of 24 players to earn either first- or second-team Academic All-District IV, comprised of all Division I schools in Tennessee, Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky and Alabama.

Adcock, a senior outfielder from Jackson, was one of 24 players to earn either first- or second-team Academic All-District IV, comprised of all Division I schools in Tennessee, Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky and Alabama.

A mass communications major, she recently completed her final season with the Lady Govs softball team. At last month's athletic banquet, Adcock was named recipient of APSU's Female Joy Award as the most valuable senior athlete and co-recipient of the Female Scholar-Athlete Award. She also was co-recipient of Governors Club Academic Achievement Award for possessing the highest grade-point average of graduating seniors.

She is a seven-time member of the President's List (4.0 GPA), a three-year member of the Ohio Valley Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll (3.25+ GPA for year) and a three-time recipient of the OVC Medal of Honor (highest GPA in conference-sponsored sport).

In 2002-03, she was awarded the Governors Club Academic Achievement Scholarship (highest GPA of rising senior athlete) along with the Female Scholar-Athlete award. She has been the softball program's Scholar-Athlete for four straight years.

To be nominated for Academic All-America, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.2 grade-point average (4.0 scale). He/she almost must have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing. True freshmen, redshirt freshmen, first-year transfers and ineligible athletic transfers are not eligible.
