“Last year, every seat was filled, except the row we reserved for late students,” says Bertha Brisson, member of the Honors and Awards Committee.

The 2004 ceremony was the first to feature the presentation of the University's most prestigious faculty awards, as well as a newly created Academic Honor Student lapel pin to the University's Honors students in addition to departmental awards.

Faculty awards to be presented today will include the Richard M. Hawkins Award for noteworthy contributions to scholarship or creative activity, the Distinguished Professor Award, the Distinguished Community Service Award and the Socrates Award.

Approximately 140 awards will be presented during the ceremony. The celebration will conclude with a reception in the foyer.
