Don't miss Austin Peay State University's always popular Percussion Ensemble Halloween Concert tonight.

Because the program consistently packs the place, there will be two performancesat 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., both in the Music/Mass Communication Building Concert Hall.

The Percussion Ensemble performs in costumesand some say what Professor of Music David Steinquest will wear is a matter of national security! Steinquest said, “The concert hall is decorated in an appropriately ‘spookified' fashion. We even have (the department of) mass communication involved in providing live video feed and special movie clips.”

This year's performance is billed as a "greatest hits" concert, including rock classics like Led Zeppelin's "Black Dog" and Edgar Winters' "Frankenstein" with guest guitarist David Britton.

The concert will feature music from stage and screen, including scores from Andrew Lloyd Webber's "The Phantom of the Opera" featuring vocalists Lindsey Rapp and Christopher Bailey and Bernard Herrmann's "Psycho" with guest violinist Phoebe Gelzer-Goratos. There will be classical pieces from Mussorgsky's "Pictures at an Exhibition" and Stravinsky's "The Firebird" featuring Nora Lewis on English horn and Andrea Brown on French horn.

The fee for admission, which is either $3 or two cans of food, will be donated to Loaves and Fishes soup kitchen. This concert usually sells out!
