Dr. Sherryl A. Byrd, associate vice president for Student Affairs and senior student affairs officer, will serve as chair of the Tennessee Board of Regents Student Affairs Sub-Council for 2009.
She assumed this role at the Jan. 27 meeting after having served as secretary during 2008.

Dr. Thomas O'Connor, associate professor of public management and program manager of criminal justice/homeland security, recently had a paper, titled “Terrorism and the Media,” accepted for publication as a book chapter in “Media and the War on Terrorism” to be published by ICFAI University Press in May 2009.

Melony Shemberger, communication specialist in Public Relations and Marketing, recently won first place in the special section category during the Kentucky Press Association award contest.
Also, in other pursuits, she placed 13th out of 86 other females in her age group at the annual 5K Nashville Zoo Run on Jan. 24.

Gena Shire, secretary in the department of theatre and dance, passed the CPS exam administered in November in Nashville.
