Dr. Jackie Vogel, associate professor of mathematics, has been appointed to a three-year term as a member of the Tennessee State Board of Examiners for Teacher Education.

Gregory R. Singleton, dean of students, recently was featured in the Kappa Alpha Journal, the national magazine of Kappa Alpha Order National Fraternity. His article, titled Making the Grade: A Continued Standard of Excellence Within Kappa Alpha Order, highlighted the ongoing efforts of the national fraternity in raising academic standards for members across the country.

Singleton currently serves as the national scholarship officer for Kappa Alpha Order.

Melony Shemberger, communication specialist in Public Relations and Marketing, placed second in her age division (35-39) during the second Gunner Reindeer 5K Run on Dec. 13, 2008, in Benton, Ky. Her next run is a 10K race Feb. 7 in Clarksville.
