Plaudits

Dr. Mickey Wadia, professor of languages and literature, participated in the 103rd meeting of the Tennessee Philological Association (TPA) held Feb. 21-23 at Austin Peay State University.

He read a paper, titled This Wooden O: An Overview of Elizabethan Playhouses, Acting, and Stagecraft.

Also, during the TPA business meeting, Wadia was elected president for 2009-10.

In addition, Wadia will serve as quizmaster for the super quiz at the Academic Decathlon on Saturday, March 29 at APSU.

During spring break, Wadia participated in Shakespeare studies at Stratford-upon-Avon, United Kingdom, and had the distinction of viewing seven of eight plays in the histories cycle performed by the Royal Shakespeare Company at its Courtyard Theatre.

The company presented a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see Shakespeare's complete History Cycle performed by one ensemble company of actors over a seven-day period.. The histories cycle, sometimes referred to as the Henriad, include the following works: Richard II, Henry IV Part 1, Henry IV Part 2, Henry V, Henry VI Part 1, Henry VI Part 2, Henry VI Part 3 and Richard III.
