Dr. Tom OConnor, assistant professor and program manager for criminal justice/homeland security, had the 2007 update of his book, Research Navigator Guide to Criminal Justice: Resources for College Research Assignments, released Oct. 20 by Pearson Allyn and Bacon.

He also co-presented a paper, titled Homeland Security Curricula: Getting it Right, at the Southern Criminal Justice Association meeting Sept. 22 in Charleston, S.C.

Heather Penney, director of the APSU Small Business Development Center, was selected as the 2006 State Star of Tennessee. Penney was chosen by the state for making a significant contribution to the Tennessee SBDC program and showing a strong commitment to small businesses in Montgomery, Stewart, Cheatham, Robertson, Houston, Humphreys and Dickson counties.
