Plaudits

Several math faculty members attended the joint meeting of the Tennessee Mathematics Teachers Association (TMTA) and the Middle Tennessee Mathematics Teachers Association held Sept. 23-24 in Brentwood. They are Dr. David Cochener, professor, Shirley Hagewood, associate professor, Dr. Matthew Jones assistant, Dr. Jackie Vogel, associate professor, Andy Wilson, assistant professor, and Dr. Mary Lou Witherspoon, professor. Both Cochener and Vogel serve on the TMTA board. Both Cochener and Vogel serve on the TMTA board. Vogel's talk was titled “Mental Math Skills Workout.” Witherspoon spoke on “Making Fractions and Their Operations Meaningful.” Vogel also moderated a panel of APSU student pre-service teachers, who presented “A Grab Bag of Middle School Manipulative Activities.”
