Piece of Austin Peay baseball history takes place in Detroit

When George Sherrill and Jamie Walker stepped onto the baseball field at Comerica Park, Friday, Aug. 20, Govs baseball history was made.

It was the first time two former Bat Govs were on the same field together as major league baseball players. Walker pitched for the Govs from 1990-92, while Sherrill hurled for APSU from 1998-99. This is Walker's fifth season in the majors, third with Detroit. Sherrill, meanwhile, joined Seattle in July and is serving the Mariners in the same role as Walker is with the Tigers–a left-handed set-up man.
