Phi Kappa Phi organizes book fair in support of project

The Austin Peay State University Chapter of Phi Kappa Phi is hosting the second annual Usborne Book Fair from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., today and Oct. 1 in the Morgan University Center.

We are hoping to earn books for our Candy for the Mind program in which we give free books to children as part of the Halloween G.H.O.S.T. event, PKP President Dr. David Snyder said.

“We are hoping to earn books for our Candy for the Mind program in which we give free books to children as part of the Halloween G.H.O.S.T. event,” PKP President Dr. David Snyder said.

Usborne will have more than 100 different titles from which to choose, focusing primarily on ages infant through 9 years old. The average book prices range from $5-$10. A representative from Usborne will take orders for any title in the catalog not available at the fair.

Patrons may purchase items for themselves, cash and carry at the book fair, and/or make a purchase to donate to Candy for the Mind. Boxes will be available at the booth to collect donated books.

Anyone not able to attend the fair on campus may shop online through Usborne. A Web link has been created to allow customers to order online and have purchases credited to Candy for the Mind. The link to the e-fair is www.ubah.com/BF25971. The e-fair will remain available until 11:59 p.m., Oct. 2.

Also, as a benefit for the APSU chapter of PKP, the honor society will earn additional free books, based on the total sales at the booth. For sales of more than $500, PKP will earn 50 percent in free books. For instance, if the book fair totals $1,000 in sales, PKP will earn an additional $500 in free books.
