Music professor presents bassoon recital

Austin Peays department of music presents a bassoon recital featuring assistant professor Maya Stone.

The performance will begin at 7:30 p.m., Monday, Oct. 20 in the concert theatre of the music/mass communication building.

Accompanied by pianist Yoo-Jung Kim, Stone will perform Franz Schuberts Allegro Moderato, Alexandre Tansmans Sonatine and Carl Maria von Webers Andante E Rondo Ungarese. She also will perform Six Studies in English Folk-Song by R. Vaughan Williams.

Austin Peay's department of music presents a bassoon recital featuring assistant professor Maya Stone.

The performance will begin at 7:30 p.m., Monday, Oct. 20 in the concert theatre of the music/mass communication building.

Accompanied by pianist Yoo-Jung Kim, Stone will perform Franz Schubert's “Allegro Moderato,” Alexandre Tansman's “Sonatine” and Carl Maria von Weber's “Andante E Rondo Ungarese.” She also will perform “Six Studies in English Folk-Song” by R. Vaughan Williams.

Stone will join the APSU music department as an assistant professor of bassoon/woodwinds in January. She holds a master's degree in woodwind specialty from Michigan State University and a bachelor's degree in music education from the State University of New York, Potsdam.

Stone has performed with both the Jackson Symphony Orchestra and the Orchestra of Northern New York.

The recital is free and open to the public.
