Music department to host jazz concert

The Austin Peay State University Department of Music and the Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts will sponsor a jazz concert.

The APSU Jazz Collegians Concert will start at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 29 in the Music/Mass Communication Building Concert Hall. The concert is free and open to the public.

The Jazz Collegians are under the direction of Dr. Richard Steffen, professor of music. The concert features arrangements from the late Maynard Ferguson Dream Band and the Gordon Goodwin Big Phat Band.

Guitarist Dr. Stanley Yates, professor of music, will be featured on a “Rock This Town” arrangement by Brian Setzer, as well as arrangements from the 1960s Buddy Rich Big Band.
