Music department to host All-Star Symphonic Wind Ensemble

The APSU music department will host high school students from across the mid-state area this weekend as they come together to form the 2003 Governor's All-Star Symphonic Wind Ensemble.

Sixty of the finest high school wind and percussion players in this area will convene on the APSU campus Thursday evening, Feb. 20 and begin an intensive rehearsal schedule that will culminate Saturday at 3 p.m. in a joint concert with the APSU Symphony Band.

The APSU music department will host high school students from across the mid-state area this weekend as they come together to form the 2003 Governor's All-Star Symphonic Wind Ensemble.

Sixty of the finest high school wind and percussion players in this area will convene on the APSU campus Thursday evening, Feb. 20 and begin an intensive rehearsal schedule that will culminate Saturday at 3 p.m. in a joint concert with the APSU Symphony Band.

The performance will be held in the concert hall of the music/mass communication building. The concert is free and open to the public.

In addition to working with the high school students in section rehearsals, members of the APSU wind and percussion faculty will provide clinics for the high school band directors in attendance.
