The Austin Peay State University Department of Music and the Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts will sponsor two percussion concerts for Halloween.
The APSU Percussion Ensemble will perform its annual Halloween Concert at 6 and 8 p.m., Monday, Oct. 30 in the Music/Mass Communication Building Concert Hall. Admission is $3 or two cans of food per person. The cans of food will be donated to Loaves and Fishes Soup Kitchen of Clarksville. Tickets may be purchased at the Music and Mass Communication Box Office 2-5 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 26 —Friday, Oct. 27, and 7:30 p.m., Monday, Oct. 30.
Under the direction of David Steinquest, professor of music, the Drum Ensemble will perform several Halloween-themed pieces. The Concert Hall will be decorated, and the performers will dress in costumes. The group will perform Tom Gauger's “Past Midnight,” Edward MacDowell's “Witches' Dance” with violin soloist Alvaro Gomez, Christopher Rouse's “Ku-Ka Ilimoku,” Paul Creston's “Ceremonial” with piano soloist Jeffrey Wood and several other pieces will follow.
