Learn a new skill with a course from Austin Peay‘s Center for Extended and Distance Education. The following courses will be offered in May.

Microsoft Office Specialist Prep

MOS Intermediate MS Word 2000 teaches students to manage files, create, edit and improve their documents by learning to create and modify tables, insert pictures, clip art and logos. Classes meet 6-9 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays, May 6-20, at 106 Public Square, Clarksville. The course fee is $152, the textbook costs $42, and the lab fee is $5.

Languages, Leisure Learning and Personal Development

“Creative WritingPoetry and Prose” teaches students to find their personal literary voice through new ideas and techniques that improve style and flex imagination. Classes meet 6-8 p.m., Tuesdays, May 6-June 10, at 106 Public Square, Clarksville. The course fee is $68.

Community Service Programs

“Motorcycle Rider Class” provides basic mental and motor skills for new riders. The course meets from 6-10 p.m. on Friday and 8 a.m.- 6 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, May 9-11 or May 16-18, at the APSU Armory Building, room 110. “Parents, Children and DivorceMontgomery and Dickson Counties” is the state-mandated course divorcing parents with minor children are required to take before the divorce is granted. The father and mother do not attend class at the same time, and children are not permitted to attend. Class for Montgomery County will be held from 9 a.m.-1 p.m., Saturday, May 10, in Clement 132. The class for Dickson County will be from 9 a.m.-1 p.m., Saturday, May 17, at the Renaissance Center, room 220. The course and textbook fee is $30.

Computer Software Users' Training

“Overcoming Computerphobia” teaches those with little or no computer experience to explore the hardware and software of the computer, and learn to use the Internet. Classes are 6-8 p.m., Mondays and Wednesdays, May 12-21, at 106 Public Square, Clarksville. The course fee is $65, the lab fee is $5 and the supply fee is $7.

“Microsoft Word Basics” teaches students to explore all the capabilities of MS Word. Students will learn to create, edit and organize documents; and make letters, tables, flyers and invitations. Classes meet 6-8 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays, May 13-27, at 106 Public Square, Clarksville. The course fee is $81, the textbook is $28, and the lab fee is $5.

MCP & MCSA Training & Certification “MCPMS Windows XP Professional (70-270)” teaches practical experience in installing, configuring and administering Windows XP Professional through a system of lessons and hands-on exercises. Useful in preparation for MCP Exam 70-270. Classes meet 5-10 p.m., Monday and Wednesday, May 12-June 16, at 106 Public Square, Clarksville. The course fee is $1,250, the lab fee is $10 and the textbook costs $75. Register for three MCP classes and receive 15 percent off each course fee!

“Multimedia Certificate Program” is a 12-18 month program that teaches the latest trends in multimedia design on the Web, in CD-ROMs or using Director, Flash or HTML. Courses may be started on any date between Jan. 15 and July 31. The course fee is $2,255.
